Privacy policy
The short version: we keep only what the app needs to work, we never sell it, and you can delete everything yourself.
What we collect
Your display name and sign-in provider identity (Apple or Google), your default currency, the households you create or join with their expenses, payments and members, and a push notification token if you turn notifications on. If you use “Sign in with Apple” with Hide My Email we only see Apple's relay address.
We do not collect your contacts, location, advertising ID, bank details or photos. Incomes you type into the income helper stay on your phone; only the resulting percentages are saved.
What we do with it
We use it to run the app: showing balances, syncing between members, sending the notifications you choose, and sending account emails (welcome, data export ready, deletion notices). We send product news only if you turn on “Product news and offers”, and you can turn it off any time.
We never sell or share your personal data for advertising. There are no ads and no third-party trackers. Anonymous usage events, if you leave analytics on, go to our own database and never contain names, amounts or descriptions. You can turn them off in the app.
Who processes data for us
- Our hosting provider (server in the EU, UK or Canada)
- Cloudflare (encrypted backups, email routing)
- Apple and Google (sign-in, push delivery, and in-app purchase from v1.1)
- Resend (account emails)
Your rights
You can export all your data and delete your account from the app (Account), or from the website: request deletion. When you delete your account your personal data is erased within 30 days and your name in shared households becomes “Former member” so other people's balances stay correct. Deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 more days until they rotate out.
You must be 16 or older to use Halfup. Questions or requests: privacy@halfup.app.
If something goes wrong
If there is a data breach that affects you we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires, and explain what happened and what to do.
